Yukon Spring Bird Tour

Swan Count at Carcross,

Monday April 14th, 2014

A half day tour celebrating the spring migration of birds through the Southern Lakes area of the Yukon. At 2:00 pm your interpretative guides will take you to Swan Haven, a wildlife viewing centre at the headwaters of the Yukon River where tundra and trumpeter swans, shorebirds, ducks and waterfowl gather. You will see candle ice, the first open water of spring and enjoy an outdoor picnic lunch. Bring your camera and you will go home with thrilling images of our feathered friends pausing on the way to their nesting grounds.

Then we proceed to Carcross for today’s swan counting. At 6:00 pm we meet other swan enthusiasts at the pedestrian bridge behind the post office. Counting Swans or just viewing these majestic birds will be the pleasure of the evening.

While warming up inside with a fresh hot drink the sightings will be recorded inside to the official global online bird checklist: eBird.org!
